Although the sisters didn’t get along that well, there was an admirable sisterly love and respect present.Īll-American Girl is also slatebreaking in that it ponders the idea of bravery and what it means to be a brave girl. There’s also some sisterly love in the story, in which Samantha’s sister Lucy proves that their bond as sisters is more valuable then any superficial bond Lucy might have with a boyfriend. All-American Girl is definitely a love story, but it’s a love story in which a girl learns to make an informed choice about who she wants to be with. Samantha Madison would puke all over this cover.ĭoes it break the slate? You know, I didn’t expect it to break the slate for the first 2/3 of the book. Check this out: A pink and purple star of fireworks. The hardcover design that I got from the library is better than the paperback, however. The cover, in my opinion, doesn’t fit the story at all. It does nothing to reflect the actual personality of main character Samantha Madison. Currently available.įace Value: Patriotism! Cursive! Stars! This cover screams baseball, apple-pie, and good ol’ US American wholesomeness. ![]()
